When I was a little girl, in school, I spent sooo many hours during recess picking “honey flowers”, separating the end of the flower to get to a thin little style from where, literally, dropped a drop of a sweet and floral nectar, that I loved so much and made me crave for the next flower.
I created this deliciously floral refreshment thanks to the honeysuckle flowers that, besides being in season and found abundantly in so many gardens and parks, are rich in anti-oxidants that help fighting free radicals, sooth breathing struggles and can calm digestion issues.
Honeysuckle Summer Drink
Ingredients:
1,5 lt mineral or filtered water
6 mint leaves
4 lemon slices
20 honeysuckle flowers
1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
Method:
1. Put the mint and lemon in a jug along with the water.
2. Gently “press” the flowers in-between your hands, so they release their essential oils, and add to the water, stirring well.
3. If you want to sweeten the drink, add the maple syrup.
4. Leave to macerate for at least 40 minutes.
5. Serve fresh or with ice cubes and add some more honeysuckle flowers to decorate!
with love,
