WOOP-WOOP! Here comes the first suggestion (of a few!) for your homemade Christmas presents!
A deliciously spicy handmade little concoction that takes no time or special tools.
Working as a recipe developer, it’s frequent I get asked where my inspiration comes from. It often comes from ingredients, colours, techniques, magazines and, of course, my work! I have been developing the menu for My Mother’s Daughters, a nature-based café in the heart of Lisbon, for about a year now and I’ve gotten so excited with so many recipes that I wanted to share them all with you! Of course, as you can imagine, I can’t. But it definitely got me inspired to create this big batch Golden Milk Mix for you guys, just in time for Christmas!
This one is a great gift to offer, just need to decorate a beautiful tag with the instructions so your loved one can create their own calming+soothing Golden Milk.
Let me just note that when making Golden Milk at home I prefer to take the time to zest fresh turmeric and ginger, pound the cardamom pods and grate the nutmeg but, if I want a quick fix, this is definitely what I go for. Great option to take with you while traveling too!
Big Batch Golden Milk Mix
yields around 2 cups
Ingredients:
1/2 cup oat, almond or coconut milk powder
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1/2 cup turmeric powder
2 tbsp ginger powder
2 tbsp cinnamon powder
1 tbsp cardamom powder
1 teaspoon vanilla powder
1/2 teaspoon clove powder
1 good pinch grated nutmeg
1 good pinch freshly ground black pepper
Method:
1. Measure all the ingredients and gently stir them together in a big bowl.
2. Fill in jars with this mix and close them well. They keep well for months but it’s always good to have it as fresh as possible to keep the flavours best.
3. To make your Golden Milk, simply heat 1 cup of plant milk (I love coconut + rice milk), add 1 tablespoon of the PC Golden Milk Mix and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Enjoy still hot or warm.
note: If making this as a gift, don’t forget to include this last step (3) in the gift tag.
Happy Holidays!!

Such a great idea Joana. Thanks for the inspiration. Will make a mix this weekend. Can’t find coconut powder – So will use almond powder. But I am wondering is it the same as almond flour/ meal? Obrigada
Thank you so much Anna! I’d love to see when you make it, please share 🙂
The powder is to give creaminess and body, you can use oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk powders. It is not the same as almond meal or coconut flour.
You can make without and use only the spices but then don’t add such a big spoon to the simmering milk 🙂
Ate today the last passionfuit – so good!!
Thank you 🙂
