Homemade Christmas Gifts | Hydrating Bath Bombs

Is there anything more relaxing than a nice, hydrating, luxurious hot immersion bath?
I also think there isn’t.
Maybe partially because I don’t own a bathtub at the moment. Maybe that’s the whole reason why. You’ll never know 🙂

To continue the Homemade Christmas Gifts saga, where I already suggested this Golden Milk Mix and this Handmade Home Spray, today I felt like sharing a beauty bomb, literally!

You can shape this as you most like – you just need a silicon mold or your regular ice cube maker -, use your favourite scents – just change the essential oils -, and offer these as gifts to your besties! Or aunties! Or moms! Your teacher, your boss, your colleagues, even your barista. Everyone!

The benefits? These homemade Bath Bombs are made with Epsom salts, that is actually a mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate, known to hydrate skin, sooth muscle soreness, have anti-inflammatory properties and improve arterial health. Another magic ingredient is added to provide the amazing smell and improve healing properties: high quality essential oils that deeply moisturize the skin. Depending on what you want, feel free to replace for your oils of choice.
The problem with the store-bought bath bombs is that they use chemicals like colorants, alpha-isomethyl ionone, fragrances, dyes and plastic (yes, you read well, the glitter they add is made of plastic). You know those sparkly-unicorn-hued bath-bombs? Exactly. Don’t.

As I’ve already shared before, I am truly addicted to this Comfort Winter smell. It was released last year before Christmas and, believe it or not, I ditched using a perfume for Christmas celebrations and only wore this, both as perfume and body oil, and I totally felt like I embodied Xmas Spirit, as weird as that may sound. The cedar, cinnamon and orange notes call for the Holidays. It’s beautiful. Try it and convince me otherwise.

Now this, if you don’t own a bathtub, like me, you can place one Bath Bomb on the shower base and enjoy the aromatherapy effects of it during a long warm shower.

Comfort Winter Bath Bombs

1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citrous acid
1/2 cup Epsom salts
1/2 cup corn starch
4 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp Comfort Winter body oil OR 10 drops essential oil of choice
Splash of water, if needed

1. Stir all dry ingredients in a big bowl.
2. Add the oils and, with your hands, incorporate them in the dry ingredients. Like you would when making a crumble mix.
3. Mix until wet and sandy-like. If needed, add a splash of water. The mixture should hold together when squeezed without crumbling too easily.
4. Put the mixture into the molds, press firmly and leave for 24 to 48 hours, to harden.
5. Once hardened, gently remove from molds and store in an air-tight container, like a glass jar.
6. Keep for up to a month, more if you didn’t use water.

Happy Holidays!!
