Usually my smoothies are green, packed with veggies and little fruit, just to balance things out. My best-friend says that some of them taste like liquid salad – in the good way – if anyone knows what´s the “good way” for that!
Not so very often I create more comforting smoothies, but when I do… Oh, you should definitely try them! Like this deliciously scrumptious chocolate peanut smoothie. Perfectly creamy and addictive, I’ve balanced the flavours so each of them doesn’t overpower the other. A yummy blend of bananas, peanut butter and cacao, all accentuated by artisanal salt and vanilla. Ok, let’s do it! (and bestie asks for seconds…)
Tastes will change according to who makes it and brands used so, as always, taste your recipe as you go 🙂
RECIPE
Creamy Chocolate Peanut Smoothie
Serves: 2
Ingredients
2 frozen ripe bananas, in chunks
1 small zucchini, peeled and diced
2-3 tbsp roasted peanut butter
1 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 cup rice milk, or other of choice
1/4 tsp artisanal sea salt
1/4 tsp natural powdered vanilla
optional: crushed salted toasted peanuts to serve as topping
Method
Just blend all ingredients in a blender until silky smooth. Taste, adjust seasonings and serve cold.
Top with crushed peanuts for a more interesting texture.

Hello! I have just discovered your blog and am saving lots of recipes to try later. I had never heard of vanilla bean powder before. I’ve always used vanilla extract (liquid) except for the occasional scraping of actual vanilla beans to make vanilla ice cream. I’ve looked it up and am going to buy some powder now that I know the flavor in it is more concentrated. Thank you for beautiful, inspiring recipes! They look delicious. I’ll be back!
Hi Kathy,
that’s so great, thank you!
Vanilla brean powder is basically the whole pod ground until powdered form. It is flavourful and you don’t toss the pod scrapes 🙂
If you use the pod however, you can make the best of the scrapes mixing them into a natural sweetener or an alcohol, making vanilla flavoured sweetener or vanilla extract.
Have a beautiful day,
Joana
